Welcome to my blog. So this is what I've been up to recently...
I've just finished installing a commission at Wath Wood Hospital for Nottinghamshire NHS. I developed a series of designs with patients there for some sculptural seating to go outside the new ward. The pieces take their influence from the surrounding woodland, and are made from oak and beech, and some patients carved some of the component pieces. The benches are made from lots of component pieces, so putting it all together was a bit like giant lego, only made out of wood...and a bit bigger... and heavier...and doesn't come apart as easily.
Installation wasn't much fun- rained all day! Fortunately one of the benches was under a giant umbrella!
A really nice project to work on though- thanks to all the staff for being so supportive thanks to Simon for the coffees), hope to be working again there soon.
